Extracultural Spanish Courses

Learn Spanish and, also, gain an in-depth knowledge of the Culture of Spain

Includes a Standard Course of Spanish for 20 hours a week + 1 hour a day of Spanish Culture Classes and/or Cultural Activities which complete it, to not only improve skills in Spanish but also to gain a more in-depth knowledge of the culture and customs of Spain.


One hour more per day of class and activities

This course provides you with more opportunities to become more familiar with Spain and the Spanish-speaking world and, at the same time, helps you to achieve greater fluency in communication.


In the Spanish Culture Course, for one hour, different sociocultural aspects will be covered
each day:


  • Geography
  • History
  • Art
  • Festivals and Traditions
  • Gastronomy

As part of the price of the course, the cultural activities include:


  • Visits to places of special interest
  • Free transport
  • Free entries
  • A teacher guide who will accompany you during the visits to explain everything you want to know or to answer questions.

This course is complemented with other cultural activities: showing of cinematographic documentaries, conferences, shows....

Discover the geography of Spain

Spain's geographical diversity is extraordinary. In this course you can discover:

  • Regions
  • Orography
  • Populations
  • Landscapes

If any student is interested in discovering a certain region of Spain, the Administration department of Delta Language School will provide them with all the necessary information, creating a trip itinerary and managing the appropriate bookings for accommodation and transport on their behalf.

A class on the History of Spain


The teacher will focus especially on the most recent historical events and those from the XX century, without forgetting the most decisive periods in the History of Spain:


  • The prehistory
  • The Celt-Iberian Spain
  • Phoenicians, Greeks and Carthaginians
  • Romans and Goths
  • Moorish Epoch and Reconquista
  • The Catholic Monarchs
  • Habsburg and Borbon Kings
  • 20th Century

In the class the teacher favours dialogue so that the student can participate with comments and questions.

We discuss Art

In the classroom the teacher will act as a catalyst, stimulating the student so that they participate and give their opinion on the different categories of Spanish art.



Whether it's painting, architecture, theatre, literature, music, cinema……… The most representative from each period will be covered.

As the field is much too vast, the students can suggest the monographic topic to the teacher that, at a specific time, is of most interest to them.

Festivals and Traditions

Your teacher will provide you with as in-depth an explanation as possible of the most typical aspects of our festivals.


On specific occasions you will be able to experience live spectacles, whether by attending flamenco in the Assembly Hall of Delta Language School or participating live in a traditional festival in Santander.

  • Semana Santa (Holy Week)
  • El Rocío

Discover and try the typical dishes of Spain

IN THE CLASSROOM:

The teacher will cover the different schools of Spanish cuisine, both by region and by the experts that run them.


You will discover:

  • The different dishes and recipes of Spain.
  • Cuisine from Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Cuba...
  • Spanish wines that triumph throughout the world.

OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM:


Accompanied by your classmates and your teacher

  • Spanish wine
  • Tasting of pinchos and tapas
